June 11/12/13 – Today we went on a cal boat in Amsterdam. There are so many canal boats because it is very popular for tourists. We saw buildings more than 300 years old.
After that we went for a bike ride in Vondelpark which is a short tram ride from the main part of Amsterdam. When we were on the bikes we felt like real Dutch people, because it feels like everyone in Holland has a bike.
At night for dinner we had cheese fondue. This country loves cheese so I call this country Cheese Land. The dinner was extraordinary. We first had a very nice drink on the edge of a canal and watched the boats go by.
Cheese fondue is melted cheese and you dip pieces of bread into it. It is so so yummy!
After dinner we had a special dessert for my mum’s birthday. It was cream, apple, ice cream and a flame of fire. It was spectacular.
I had a waffle after dinner but I did not eat all of it. I put the last bit in a bin but 5 minutes later I saw a seagull come and eat my waffle and there was his feast.
On Wednesday we got back on to the plane to fly to London. The flight was only 50 minutes but we were delayed by 50 minutes.
At my godparents we ate my godmother’s famous cheese cake. It is the best.
Tomorrow my godfather and I are going for a 5k run around Clapham Common near their house.
On Friday we are going to Bordeaux in France to see our friends Glen, Lucy and Eve. They used to live in Wellington but they are now living in Europe for 6 months. Eve is also 10 and I really look forward to seeing her again.
Here’s a fact of the day: the prime minister of the United Kingdom is resigning so there are 10 people who want to be it. Find out at the end of the month.
